Provided is a production technology for a cutting tool, capable of providing a cutting tool with stable performance and uniform smoothness of a cutting surface when a cutting tool material is cut into a prescribed shape. The production method is for a cutting tool that cuts the cutting tool material using a laser multiplexed such that the polarization directions of two linear polarization lasers are orthogonal. Specifically disclosed is a production method for a cutting tool that uses a circularly polarized laser. Also specifically disclosed is a production method for a cutting tool that uses a randomly polarized laser. Also disclosed is a cutting tool produced using said production method. The cutting tool production method comprises: a means for generating a multiplexed laser of two linearly polarized lasers with orthogonal polarization directions; and an optical system that guides the multiplexed laser to the cutting tool material. Also disclosed is a cutting tool production method comprising a means for generating a circularly polarized laser. Also disclosed is a cutting tool production method comprising a means for generating a randomly polarized laser.
