<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for a nonaqueous secondary battery having excellent lithium-ion conductivity and dielectric strength, and a high-output lithium secondary battery containing the electrolyte. <P>SOLUTION: The electrolyte for a nonaqueous secondary battery contains a metallic salt containing an ion of metal of group I or II of the periodic table, and at least one kind of silicon compound represented by the formula (1) or the formula (2). In the formulae, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>represents an alkyl group with a carbon number of 1 to 5, and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>represents an alkyl group or an OR<SP POS="POST">1</SP>group with a carbon number of 1 to 5.
