FLUID DISPENSING DEVICE WITH A FLOW DETECTOR

There is disclosed a portable therapeutic fluid delivery device (10) with a flow detector (500), which comprises a heating element (508) and two temperature sensors (502, 504). Upon activation of the heating element, there is determined a flow condition of the fluid inside the delivery tube based on a signal provided by the temperature sensors. A temperature gradient within the therapeutic fluid is detected. The determined flow condition can be one of: air bubbles within the delivery tube, occlusion within the delivery tube, or leakage within the delivery tube. Various embodiments are also provided. The device can be in two parts, for example with a reusable (100) and a disposable part (200). Upon pairing of these parts, the heating element and the temperature sensors touch the delivery tube (230). Other embodiments relate to alarms, integration of a blood glucose sensing apparatus, occlusion detection, suspension of motor power, analysis of motor revolutions, and use of a plurality of sensors.
