PURPOSE: A gas range is provided to prevent gas emission which is not burnt even the gas range is ignited when a cooking pan is not on the gas range. CONSTITUTION: A gas range comprises a cooking pan sensor, a valve closing unit, an infrared signal transmission unit, an ignition control unit, an extinguishment control unit and a power supply unit. The cooking pan sensor detects existence and non-existence of a cooking pan on a gas burner(11). The valve closing unit is installed in a gas passage or a mechanism valve(2). The valve closing unit blocks a supply of the gas to the gas burner. The infrared signal transmission unit starts or stops a ventilation operation by transmitting an infrared signal. The ignition control unit controls an ignition operation. The extinguishment control unit controls an extinguishment operation. The power supply unit supplies the power to each part of the gas range.
