<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber splicer capable of accurately butting optical fibers together. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber splicer 1 includes a mechanical splicing part 8 for butting two optical fibers together to mechanically connect them and a wedge member 14 attached to the mechanical splicing part 8. The mechanical splicing part 8 includes a base member 82 having a fiber groove 81 formed therein to position a glass fiber 5, a lid member 83 for retaining the glass fiber 5 disposed in the fiber groove 81 with respect to the base member 82, and a clamp spring 84 clipping the base member 82 and the lid member 83 so as to press and fix the glass fiber 5 by the base member 82 and the lid member 83. The clamp spring has a substantially cylindrical shape having a part opened, and a wedge part 14b of the wedge member 14 is preliminarily inserted to an open part 84a of the clamp spring 84 against pressing force of the clamp spring 84. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
