METHOD FOR DETERMINING TIME-OF-FLIGHT (TOF) IN ULTRASOUND MEASUREMENTS

<p>There is provided a method for determining the zero time point of an ultrasound pulse sequence. In this method a short pulse sequence (n pulses) and a long pulse sequence (n+1 pulses) is transmitted between two ultrasound transducers, wherein n is at least 2 pulses (2 periods of an ultrasound oscillation). Since the amplitude of the received pulse (n+3) is greater in the long pulse sequence than in the short pulse sequence it is possible to assess when the (n+3) pulse started (zero time point - ie, where the (n+3) period starts), which can be used to determine the zero time point of the first pulse of the ultrasound pulse sequence.</p>
