The circuit board assembly has a metallic carrier plate (2) soldered with an electrical component (3) such as power semiconductor. The metallic carrier plate has a component carrying area placed in a recess of a printed circuit board (1). The electronic component is mounted on the front side of the carrier plate, and the rear side is made to rest on the back of the circuit board. The edge areas of the carrier plate are made to rest on the circuit board. An independent claim is included for method for manufacture of circuit board assembly.
