PURPOSE: A voice coil motor and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce contact noise according to the drive of a bobbin by bilaterally driving a movable element and to control focus between a lens and an image sensor within short time. CONSTITUTION: A stator(100) comprises a magnet which generates a first magnetic field. A movable element(200) comprises a bobbin(210) and a coil. The coil generates a second magnetic field reacting to the first magnetic field. A base(300) fixes the stator. An opening in which light passes through is formed on the base. An elastic member(400) flexibly supports the bobbin. The elastic member forms a gap between the lower side of the bobbin and the upper side of the base when a current is not applied to the coil. The elastic member comprises a first elastic member connected to the lower side of the bobbin and a second elastic member connected to the upper side of the bobbin. |
