<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission diversity system applicable to a CDMA communication system, simplified in structure, and reduced in manufacturing cost. <P>SOLUTION: The transmitter 40 comprises a first antenna 46 for transmitting a first communication burst and a second antenna 47 for transmitting a second communication burst, a first channelization device 48 for spreading a received data field by using a first channelization code, and a second channelization device 49 for spreading the received data field by using a second channelization code. A midamble training sequence used for estimating a channel impulse response is inserted into the first communication burst, and the midamble training sequence used for estimating the channel impulse response is inserted into the second communication burst.
