METHOD FOR COLLECTING BERYLLIUM RESOURCES FROM SPENT METALLIC BERYLLIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of collecting beryllium resources at a relatively low temperature without thermal decomposition at a high temperature after halogenated beryllium is produced from spent metallic beryllium.

SOLUTION: A method for collecting beryllium resources from spent metallic beryllium includes; a first process for producing halogenated beryllium by exposing activated beryllium to a halogen gas; a second process for producing a blended solid of metallic beryllium with magnesium halide from the halogenated beryllium by magnesium reduction; and a third process for eluting and separating the magnesium halide from the blended solid of the metallic beryllium with the magnesium halide by alternately treating with water and a diluted hydrochloric acid so as to collect the metallic beryllium.
