LED FOR GROWING PLANTS USING QUANTUM DOTS

Provided is an LED for growing plants which is shone onto the plants instead of natural light or as a supplement to natural light, wherein use is made of the fact that quantum dots can be rendered capable of emitting light across an entire range from the ultraviolet to the infrared if the size or the material composition of the quantum dots is adjusted so as to adjust the energy band gap, and wherein groups of particles of quantum dots having from 2 to 5 different particle-size distributions are used in a mixture in such a way that the light emitted from the LED passes through a filler layer comprising the quantum dots and while so doing is converted to and emitted at a wavelength which can improve the efficiency of light absorption and the leaf-greening properties for plant cultivation.
