The bonnet has a structure (12) comprising covering layers (14, 16) that are arranged at a distance from each other and made from fiber-reinforced plastic. A foam core (18) is arranged between the layers. A partial area is arranged along a side of another partial area, and comprises higher resilience than the latter partial area. The high resilience of the former area is formed by a separating layer (24) i.e. plastic foil, arranged between the covering layers. Wall areas (28, 30, 32) of the structure are separated from each other by the separating layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a front opening bonnet.
