<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance unit and liquid jetting apparatus, which can prevent deposition of liquid adhering to a wiper and suppress waste of the liquid by reducing discharge amount of the liquid discharged during flushing operation. <P>SOLUTION: The maintenance unit includes: a wiper member 12 opened to an upper surface facing a nozzle opening forming surface 23, which is made of a flexible member having a first suction hole 121 of a size corresponding to nozzle arrays; a discharge tube 69, one end of which is connected to the first suction hole 121; a suction device 35 connected to the another end of the discharge tube 69, which supplies negative pressure to the first suction hole 121; and an atmospheric releasing valve 75 arranged on the discharge tube 69.
