COATED OPTICAL FIBER AND OPTICAL-ELECTRICAL COMPOSITE CABLE PROVIDED WITH THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber and an optical-electrical composite cable provided with the same that have a smaller amount of increase in transmission loss and suppressed microbending loss even during being bent into a small diameter.

SOLUTION: In a coated optical fiber 1, a resin coated layer 5 is provided on the outer periphery of a primary coated optical fiber 4 in which, on the outer periphery of a core glass 2 made of quartz glass, a cladding layer 3 made of a resin having a refraction index lower than the core glass 2 is formed. The core glass 2 is 50 to 100 μm in diameter. A relative refraction-index difference between the core glass 2 and the cladding layer 3 is 3.7% or more. The primary coated optical fiber 4 is 125 μm in outer diameter. The resin coated layer 5 is 0.5 to 0.9 mm in outer diameter, and Young's modulus thereof is 500 to 1000 MPa.
