A pendulum shear comprises a base 10, a motor driven shaft 12 which is supported in bearings 13, 14 and has three collars 18 and two eccentrics 32 formed thereon. A frame 16 is mounted on the collars 18 and includes two upwardly projecting U-shaped members 21, 22. A lower shear blade 23 is mounted in the frame. An upper shear blade 24 is mounted in a carrier 25 which is slidably received in the guide members 21, 22 and which is connected by a pin 28 at each end to links 29, 31 which are mounted on the eccentrics 32. Further links 33, 34 are respectively connected at one end to the centre of the links 29, 31 and at the other end are pivotally attached to the base 10, Fig. 3 (not shown). Rotation of the shear causes oscillation of the frame 19 and reciprocation of the upper blade 24. The speed of the flying movement of the shear may be altered by varying the speed of the motor or altering the length of the links 33, 34. |
