<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe information system and a probe information processing method capable of collecting probe information required for production of traffic information, while suitably suppressing increase in communication traffic volume with increase of vehicles which are transmission sources of the probe information. <P>SOLUTION: A probe information center 200 includes a grouping part 220 for grouping vehicles whose running environment is similar based on probe information transmitted from an on-vehicle communication device 100 mounted to a vehicle PC, and selecting a representative vehicle for each vehicle group obtained by the grouping.
