<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of making a plurality of different displays according to the amount of dust while keeping cost low. <P>SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a cleaner body holding an electric fan. The vacuum cleaner includes an air duct communicating with the suction side of the electric fan. The vacuum cleaner includes an optical sensor for detecting the amount of dust passing through the air duct.
