<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus capable of setting an amplification factor for received signals in a well balanced manner. <P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus includes a transmission/reception means, a gain processing means, and an image generation means. The transmission/reception means transmits ultrasonic waves to a subject, scans the ultrasonic waves in the scanning direction, and receives reception signals. The gain processing means amplifies the reception signals according to gain conditions which are symmetrical to the scanning direction and set for each reception signal, or gain conditions which are symmetrical to the time direction of a period of periodic movement of the subject and set for each reception signal.
