The unit (1) has a base area (5) for accommodating a heating element for heating fluid in a fluid container, and a rod (9) connected with the base area. The rod extends vertically upward for fastening a liquid level measuring element e.g. capacitive measuring element, to a base of the fluid container. The base area is limited by a wall (13) whose height is less than maximum filling level of the fluid container. The wall has an opening i.e. slot, formed at the proximity of the base area, where the rod extends to a cover of the fluid container.
