<p>The aid (2) has drive unit e.g. electric motor, provided in a housing (9). Clamping jaws (3) transfer rotational movement, which is produced by the drive unit, into a rotary handle (4) of a screw clamp (1). A direction of the rotational movement is changed by a switch (5). A magnitude of torque of the drive unit and pressing force of the clamp acting on a pressure plate (10) are selected by an adjusting unit (6). The plate is pressed on a workpiece by pressure. A threaded spindle (8) is rotated in a movable clamping arm (11).</p>
