[Also in Divisions B2, C3 and H1] Lithographic plates comprise a support material bearing a hydrophilic base-coating comprising zinc oxide, an inert filler, ammonia neutralized polyacrylic acid and a styrenebutadiene copolymer. The support may be paper, fibre-board, a textile fabric, plastic sheet stock or a metal strip. The inert filler may be clay, talc, diatomaceous earth, satin white or silica. There may also be included in the coating ammoniacal zinc acetate, sodium hexametaphosphate and calcium stearate. The coating can be readily top coated with conventional lithographic coatings. Good results are also obtained with the use of magnetic inks.</p> |
