The invention relates to a method for monitoring the medical condition of a patient by means of a patient data management and/or decision-aiding system. Said method includes the following steps: (a) acquiring values of physical parameters on the patient, at least some of said physical parameters being characteristic of the existence of a physical disorder; (b) linking acquired values to a first time stamp and a second time stamp, the first time stamp representing the time when the value occurred and the second time stamp representing the time when the value was acquired; (c) continually comparing values of different parameters having the same first time stamp with comparative values stored in the system; (d) triggering an alarm when the comparison indicates that at least one of the values lies outside a predefined tolerance range in relation to the comparative value; (e) linking the alarm to a third time stamp representing the time when the alarm was triggered; (f) determining the latest point in time (final point in time), starting from the third time stamp, when a medical measure has to be taken, said point in time being determined on the basis of predefined maximum times stored in the system; and (g) continually outputting (i) the final point in time determined in step (f) and/or (ii) the period of time remaining until the final point in time will be reached and/or (iii) a time span that is shorter than the period of time remaining until the final point in time will be reached. |
