<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for reliably predicting a hydroplaning phenomenon by eliminating the influence of tire uniformity as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: An acceleration sensor 11 is mounted on a knuckle 23 to detect the vibration of the lower portion of a vehicle spring during running, and at the same time a vibration level G<SB POS="POST">a</SB>(f<SB POS="POST">0</SB>) equivalent to the primary vibration peak of tire resonance that emerges at 30 to 100 Hz inclusive of a vibration spectrum band obtained by frequency-analyzing the output of the acceleration sensor 11. The detected vibration level G<SB POS="POST">a</SB>(f<SB POS="POST">0</SB>) is then compared with a preset threshold value K. If the vibration level G<SB POS="POST">a</SB>(f<SB POS="POST">0</SB>) is smaller than the threshold value K, occurrence of hydroplaning phenomenon is determined. The driver is warned of the determination result by an alert means 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
