The unit (1) has an inlet tube (4) provided with an intake opening (5) that ends within a collection chamber (2). An exhaust opening (7) is provided for discharging liquid refrigerant. The collection container is enclosed by an outer container (10) such that an intermediate space (16) is formed between a collection container (3) and the outer container. The outer container is provided with a fluid inlet opening (12) and a fluid outlet opening (14) for passing cooling fluid i.e. antifreeze-water, through the space for refrigerating the refrigerant in the collection chamber.
