<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the hunting of a stop and start of an engine accompanied by a variation of actual engine torque, in a hybrid vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When a target traveling state is not higher than a preset engine stop determination value, the drive of drive wheels by the engine is stopped.
