<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide crampons by which one can safely walking on ice and snow, which is effective in going up and down a steep slope, reduces fatigue, and preventing a slip accident. <P>SOLUTION: The angles of front pawls 30, 32 and rear pawls 40, 42 with respect to a frame 20 are set to 100 degrees as an obtuse angle, and set to such an angle that the points spread forward and rearward or outward as seen from the side. During a climb, the crampons come to touch the slope 100 from the toe side and hits against the slope 100 first with the front pawls 30, 32. The pawl angle, however, is the obtuse angle and therefor makes the front pawls 30, 32 come to bite into the slope 100 from the right angle direction. During a descent, the crampons come to touch the slope 100 from the heel and hits against the slope 100 first with the rear pawls 40, 42.
