<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system to increase channel capacity in each cell edge of a plurality of cells. <P>SOLUTION: In a communication system, data transmission by transmitter stations 1-1 and 1-2, which are base stations in adjacent cells, is performed by MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) transmission. A relay station 2 receives radio waves transmitted by both transmitter stations 1-1 and 1-2, and acquires data transmitted by the transmitter station 1-1 and data transmitted by the transmitter station 1-2. In the relay station 2, data transmission to receiver stations in adjacent cells is performed by multiuser MIMO transmission. The data transmitted from the transmitter station 1-1 is received by a receiver station 3-1 via the relay station 2. The data transmitted from the transmitter station 1-2 is received by a receiver station 3-2 via the relay station 2.
