<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a color shift occurring in scanned image information even if an image is scanned at such a speed that the range of the color shift extends to 2 or more pixels. <P>SOLUTION: Color difference data Cr(n), Cr(n-1), and Cr(n+1) of a target pixel P(n), and pixels P(n-1) and P(n+1) adjoining the target pixel P(n) in a preset color shift direction are obtained. When the signs of the color difference data Cr(n), Cr(n-1), and Cr(n+1) are not the same, and the absolute value of the difference of color difference data between the target pixel P(n) and the adjoining pixel P(n-1) or P(n+1) is not less than a threshold Th, following processing is performed.
