Use of butyl rubber or silicone rubber, preferably fluorine-free silicone rubber for producing a sealing element at a proportional valve for controlling a gaseous medium, preferably hydrogen, is claimed. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the proportional valve for controlling the gaseous medium, preferably hydrogen, comprising the sealing element containing butyl-rubber or silicone-rubber, preferably fluorine-free silicone-rubber or is produced completely from butyl-rubber or silicone-rubber, preferably fluorine-free silicone-rubber; (2) producing the sealing element at a component of the proportional valve of a spray material, containing butyl-rubber or is produced completely from butyl-rubber, comprising applying an injection molding die on a surface area of the base surface of the component, and spraying the sealing material on the base surface bounded by the injection molding die; and (3) producing the sealing element at a component of the proportional valve of a spray material, containing silicone-rubber or is produced completely from silicone-rubber, comprising vulcanizing the silicone-rubber on a surface of the component of the proportional valve.
