This vehicle door drive device causes an opening/closing operation of a vehicle door by means of causing the rotation of an output member by decelerating and transmitting the rotation of a motor to the output member. The vehicle door drive device is provided with an epicyclic gear mechanism having: a sun gear; a ring gear that encircles the sun gear; a planetary gear that meshes with the sun gear and the ring gear; and a carrier that rotates with the rotation of the planetary gear. One of either the sun gear or the ring gear is the drive shaft driven to rotate by the motor, and the other is a fixed shaft. The carrier is the driven shaft. A portion of the output member configures the carrier.
