APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING MOLTEN METALLIC IRON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing molten metallic iron that can separate molten metallic iron from molten slag discharged from a rotary hearth furnace and collect only the molten metallic iron without having to perform an additional process.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing molten metallic iron includes: the rotary hearth furnace 1 which has a rotary hearth 2 comprising an inclined surface 2a inclining downwardly toward the center of the furnace and has an outlet 2b disposed at the center of the furnace, the rotary hearth furnace melting metallic iron and slag components by reducing a starting mixture that is formed of at least a carbonaceous reducing agent and an iron oxide-containing substance and is charged on the rotary hearth 2; a molten material container 5 which is disposed below the outlet 2b and stores the metallic iron and slag components flowing down the inclined surface 2a; and an induction heating device 6 which is disposed in the molten material container 5.
