Ex-vivo culturing of tissues or embryonic organ systems on a multiwell plate (1), comprises placing respectively at least one tissue or at least one embryonic organ system at or near the center of the circular surface of the well bottom (4) in an individual well (2); adding the complete nutrient medium (7) in an amount, which is required for complete wetting of the circular surface of the well bottom; and incubating the tissue or the embryonic organ systems and the nutrient medium in a carbon dioxide enriched moist atmosphere at 35-39[deg] C.
