1,033,103. Uniting threads by adhesive. FRANCAISE DU FERODO. S. A. March 8,1963 [March 9, 1962], No. 9418/63. Heading D1K. A flexible strip 10 is found by a layer of asbestos threads 13 placed side by side e.g. on a roller, partly or wholly impregnated with an organic or mineral varnish and flattened on at least one side. The varnish may be a phenolplastic varnish and may include drying oil and a plasticiser and be dissolved in trichlorethylene. The impregnated strip may be dried at about 100‹C. for about 10 minutes. Alternatively a 10% suspension of colloidal silica in water may be used. The strip may be used for insulating an electric reel 11, Fig. 4 (not shown), or a cable 12, Fig. 5 (not shown) or may be used for chemical insulation. if a partly impregnated strip is used it may be further impregnated and the strip may be perforated to facilitate further impregnation. |
