<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber with improved durability and convergence efficiency of a laser beam, and an underwater shock wave generator using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber 11 is used in the underwater shock wave generator 10 for emitting a laser beam into water to generate underwater shock waves, and constituted of a body part 16 and the laser converging part 17 provided at the tip thereof. The laser converging part 17 has a substantially truncated cone shape having a tip 18a whose diameter is smaller than that of the base end 18b thereof, and constituted so that the inner angle θ with respect to the radial direction of the side of an axial cross section is gradually reduced toward the tip. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
