SEALED NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a nonaqueous electrolyte battery improved in durability properties such as cycle/storage properties and in load characteristics; and a nonaqueous electrolyte suitable for use in the nonaqueous electrolyte battery.

SOLUTION: A sealed nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes: a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a lithium salt and a nonaqueous solvent dissolving the lithium salt; and a negative electrode and a positive electrode which are capable of absorbing and desorbing lithium ions. In the sealed nonaqueous electrolyte battery, when the total volume of a sealed portion where an electrode group is stored is denoted as V1, and the total volume of a solid portion and a liquid portion housed in the sealed portion is denoted as V2, a ratio of V2/V1 satisfies the following expression (1). Expression (1): 0.90≤V2/V1≤0.96.
