IMPROVED SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR DETECTION OF AIRBORNE AGENTS

A simplified system for analysis of airborne analytes by absorbing the analytes into a liquid and interrogating the liquid with an analytical instrument is described herein. A droplet is formed at a pipette aperture exposed to gas containing analytes of interest. The droplet is interrogated by the analytical instrument. In specific embodiments, liquid pumped into the pipette is seeded with nanoparticles, which aggregate with analytes absorbed into the droplet, which are detected and analyzed with a Raman spectrometer (using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy).
