The method involves detecting a position of a gas pedal by a detector, and transmitting a gas pedal position signal to a control device of a noise generator. A drive signal corresponding to the position of the gas pedal is produced in dependence of the gas pedal signal position for a speaker (2) by the control device. The speaker is actuated by the control device with the drive signal for producing a noise corresponding to the position of the gas pedal. The frequency and the volume of the noise are altered in dependence of the position of the gas pedal, when producing the drive signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a motor car comprising an electromotor (2) a noise generator comprising a speaker.
