The cell (1) has a housing equipped with an electrolyte and an electrochemically active electrode foil stack (1.4). The housing consists of two opposite sheathing plates (1.1,1.2). An electrically insulating frame (1.3) is arranged between the sheathing plates. An electrolyte diffusion barrier (1.5) is arranged directly between the electrically insulating frames. A spacer element (1.6) made of plastic, glass-fiber reinforced plastic, ceramic, and layered silicate is arranged between the sheathing plates.
