<p>The device (30) has a movable contact (16) forming a single piece with one of fixed contacts (12, 14) and moving between a closed position in which the movable contact is in electric contact with the fixed contacts for electrically connecting the fixed contact and an extreme open position in which the movable contact is separated from the fixed contact to electrically isolate the fixed contacts from each other. A varistor (V1) limits voltage between the fixed contacts during portion of path of the movable contact from the closed position to the open position except a final part of the path.
