A composition comprises natural or synthetic rubber and a tetrahydroquinoxaline of the formula <FORM:1095760/C3/1> wherein R and R1 which may be the same or different are hydrogen, or alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl or aryl groups, and R1 and R11 are the same or different and are hydrogen, or alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkoxy or aryloxy groups. The term synthetic rubber includes ethylene propylene terpolymers with non-conjugated dienes.ALSO:Tetrahydroquinoxaline, 2,3 - dimethyltetrahydroquinoxaline, and 6-methylquinoxaline are each prepared from the corresponding quinoxaline compounds by hydrogenation in solution in the presence of a nickel on kieselguhr catalyst. 6 - Methoxy - 1,2,3,4 - tetrahydroquinoxaline is prepared by hydrogenating 6-methoxyquinoxaline in solution by lithium aluminium hydride. |
