975,071. Plate-type heat-exchangers. C. A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. Feb. 13, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No.12444/62. Heading F4S. A plurality of separate cross-flow plate-type heat-exchanger elements of metal or ceramic are disposed in a ring in the manner shown with each element overlapping an adjacent element. Each element comprises a plurality of pairs of flat plates with a corrugated plate between each pair, hence forming between each said pair a plurality of flow passages for one of the heat-exchanging fluids. The plate pairs so formed are themselves spaced apart by corrugated plates which thus form passages for the other fluid. In use, cold high-pressure fluid flows from inlet headers 10 through alternate passages formed by the plate pairs of each element to outlet headers 9. Hot low-pressure fluid passes, through spaces 11 between the headers 10 and through portions only of the intermediate plate pair passages of two elements in turn as directed by walls 7 extending between adjacent elements. Specification 744,404 is referred to. |
