<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can effectively remove defects due to heat fusion of remaining toner collected in a cleaning device and a leak to outside the device and also avoid a rise in cost for the defect removal without providing any special device to eliminate the defect. <P>SOLUTION: A unit holding an intermediate transfer body belt 56 and a recovery container 69 of a belt cleaner 59 of a cleaning means is drawn out of an image forming apparatus main body together with a unit frame. The unit is rotated at a necessary angle, for example, 90° to the unit frame and fixed to a place where a toner recovery opening (an opening part between a blade 65 and a scooping sheet 72) provided to the belt cleaner recovery container 69 is directed horizontally. Once the toner recovery opening is directed horizontally, the image forming apparatus is free of the defect that the remaining toner 71 falls in and out of the image forming apparatus main body during maintenance operation for collecting the remaining toner 71 removed from the surface of the intermediate transfer body belt 56. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
