PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device without a polarization plate is provided to obtain a brighter screen by the same power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A pixel area is divided into an opening area and a non-opening area. An upper panel includes a black matrix(BM), an overcoat layer, and an opaque common electrode(COM) on a first transparent substrate(SBU). The opening area is filled with the black matrix. The overcoat layer covers the black matrix. The opening area is filled with the opaque pixel electrode on the overcoat layer. A lower panel includes a transparent common electrode formed on the non opening area on a second transparent substrate(SBL).
