[Also in Division D2] In a transfer system comprising two sheets with a layer of transfer composition on one and a layer of receptor composition on the other (see Division D2), the transfer composition comprises an esterified maleic adduct soluble in a volatile organic solvent and colouring matter insoluble in that solvent, and the receptor composition comprises either a thermoplastic polyalkylene with or without an alkyl-cellulose or alkyl-hydroxyalkyl-cellulose or a resin soluble in a volatile organic solvent together with an alkyl-cellulose or alkyl-hydroxyalkyl-cellulose, and part or all of the exposed surface of the transfer composition is covered by a layer of the esterified maleic adduct of the transfer composition, but without the pigment. The resin of the receptor layer may be an esterified modified rosin, e.g. a rosin-maleic adduct esterified with pentaerythritol, or with glycerol. In the examples, the cover composition comprises a rosin-maleic adduct esterified with pentaerythritol, ethyl - hydroxyethyl - cellulose, a plasticizer (dimethyl-cyclohexyl sebacate or dimethyl - cyclo - hexyl adipate), silica, polyvinylpyrrolidone, pyrrolidone, 2,6 - ditertiarybutyl-paracresol, a long-chain amide and titanium dioxide; the transfer compositions are similar but contain also carbon black and a dark grey pigment; the transfer and cover layers are both applied from dispersion in isopropanol; the receptor composition comprises modified polyterpenes, polyethylene, titanium dioxide, china clay and long-chain amide, and is applied from dispersion in white spirit.
