PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of efficiently producing a porous material while preventing the generation of a crack and the destruction of the porous material in a drying process, and to provide a useful production method for carrying out the above method. SOLUTION: The porous material is produced by drying a wet material having a first liquid solvent while substituting the first solvent with a second solvent in a state of high pressure, wherein this operation is carried out while supplying a mixed solvent of the same or same kinds of solvents as the first solvent and the second solvent, and if necessary, the mixed solvent is supplied while gradually increasing the mixing ratio of the second solvent by changing the mixing ratio of each solvent of the mixed solvent.
