PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium of simple constitution, and an image writing device capable of writing an image to the image display medium. SOLUTION: The image display medium has a display area 11, a group of column electrodes 42 provided in a column direction over the entire display area 11, 2<SP>n</SP>pieces of row electrodes 43 provided in a row direction over the entire display area; a power-receiving terminal 12 to which a voltage is supplied from outside; a microactuator 30 which receives a driving signal from outside and selectively applies the voltage received at the power receiving terminal 12 to column electrodes 42, on the basis of the driving signal; and (n) pairs of pressure bars 18 applying the voltage received at the power receiving terminal 12 to the row electrodes 43, with the pressure bars being constituted so that when one of a pair of pressure bars 18 is turned on, the other is turned off, and with the row electrodes 43 being selected one after another by driving pressure bars 18, on the basis of an external scanning signal to scan the display area 11 in the columnar direction.
