PURPOSE: A portable terminal and operation control method thereof are provided to display an execution screen on an apple board area by executing an application corresponding to a gesture input signal. CONSTITUTION: A control unit displays an operation screen on a display unit(S200). The control unit establishes an apple board area which is able to be displayed on an execution screen of a specific application(S210). The control unit executes the application corresponding to a gesture input signal by sensing the gesture input signal through the apple board area(S215,S220). The control unit displays the execution screen corresponding to the execution of the application on the apple board area(S225).
