1,052,699. Photosensitive materials and their use in colour printing. KALLE A.G. Dec.2, 1964 [Dec.3, 1963(2)], No.49038/64. Heading G2C. A light sensitive material comprises a transparent polymeric support directly coated with an o-naphthoquinone diazide and an alkali-fast, alcohol soluble dye. Multicolour prints are produced by separately exposing four materials coated with blue, green, red and black dyes to the appropriate colour separation positives, washing off the non-image areas and registering the four developed layers to give a multicolour print which may be used in a colour printing. The specified transparent support is a polyester foil of 50 microns thickness. Alternatively, a diazide coating which contains a blue dye transparent to light and fast to alkali may be exposed to a blue separation positive through a line screen and the unexposed parts removed to leave a colour printing foil. The foil is preferably exposed to light to destroy the remaining diazide. Such a foil, if it bears registration marks which were on the positive, may be used as a registration guide in colour separation work. |
