[Also in Group XXIV] A pulley 40 on each wiper shaft 21 or 22 of a windscreen wiper system is engaged by a flexible driving cable 49 connected at its ends to a link 32 reciprocated by an electric motor or other power unit 28. The link 32 is formed with channel portions 38 for receiving the adjacent portions of the pulleys 40. In a further embodiment in which the wiper arms rotate in the same directions, the link is driven by a cable attach ed at its ends to an intermediate portion of the link and passing over a driving pulley.
