A vacuum cleaner used as wet and dry cleaning is provided to firmly combine an escalating member to a housing and easily remove the escalating member from the housing by improving the structure of an escalating member insertion unit. A vacuum cleaner used as wet and dry cleaning comprises: a base having a dust intake port; a run plate moving up and down on the upper unit surface of the base, and having a damp floorcloth at the lower surface; an escalating member(13) formed with a pedal(132) for guiding the lift of the escalating member, and a support projection(135) protruded by predetermined length at both end units; and a housing(12) formed with the escalating member rotatably installed at the lower surface, and an insertion unit for inserting the support projection. The insertion units are recessed by predetermined depth at both sides of the housing, shapes of which are different from each other. The insertion unit are composed of a first insertion unit(122) downwardly recessed by predetermined length at one side of the hosing, upper unit of which is open; and a second insertion unit formed with a projection insertion groove recessed by predetermined depth at the other side of the housing, and a guide surface(125) inclined at predetermined degree to guide the insertion of the support projection.
